President's Message

Steve Romine, AITP Chapter President     We have come to our last meeting before the Summer Break. I would love to see us close out the first half of the year with our largest attendance year-to-date. May is, of course, “Bring your Spouse to the AITP Meeting” month. Be sure and reply to Charlie Cook when the announcement comes out so that we can reserve adequate seating.
The final paperwork for the UAB Student Chapter has been finalized and is on the way to the national headquarters. It is just a matter of time before they become fully sanctioned. We appreciate all the effort that has gone into making this happen from the students at UAB and Andrea Simmons. But a special thank you goes out to Dr. Julio Rivera from UAB for spearheading this push and for taking the extra time from his already busy day to make this happen.
A special thanks and recognition goes out to Bill Cook of Jefferson County Information Systems for coming out to be our presenter at the April meeting. Due to some technical difficulties Bill was not able to give his presentation but he has agreed to come back in the fall to share his wisdom with us. Bill is my next-door neighbor and I appreciate his understanding as we work thru some inconveniences. Life is all about adaptability.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe summer. May your vacations be long and your worries small. Hopefully we can use this time to refresh and rejuvenate ourselves. We all have a long march in front of us and need to stay sharp and focused. This will be especially true when we reconvene in September. Our AITP chapter has a lot to do. But we are taking it one day at a time and I appreciate the positive, “Can Do” attitude of our hard-core members.
Use this summer wisely and brainstorm some creative ideas that we can put to use to build our organization back to the strength we once had.
I hope to see you all on the on the 25th!
